Moanin' - Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - 1958 Blue Note Records

"Ohno" so tired,
nodding off...just like me!

Those who know me know I never take "me time." Never. I have so many who depend on me I run till I'm beyond exhaustion. This past week I felt like "Ohno," far beyond exhausted and realized if I didn't stop I might die. Honestly. And that scared the hell out of me. So I removed posts to protect my family's privacy and closed down. Not because I don't love all of you very, very much, but because I love all of you SO much. I need to find "me" again. Doing so will help me find you. I don't know if that makes sense. It does me. What I do every day is taxing. It takes a massive tole, and in addition I'm dealing with very serious personal issues, so I've decided to take a different approach to connecting with all of you. Let's just call it "Music Therapy!" Unfortunately I can't connect like most of you to video, so there are no photos. Perhaps next time!!! Please take time to click and peek. I hope you enjoy because I made an effort dammit/damit!

Lee Morgan's Band: The Sidewinder.

Lee Morgan played trumpet for Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers. Morgan was killed at age 33 while performing at a club in NYC.

This is Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers tribute to trumpter Clifford Brown, who had just died recently in a car accident at age 32 (?). Brown was Lee Morgan's idol; again, Morgan was playing trumpet in this piece.

Next times, the Modern Jazz Quartet. Yes, I'll still post about flowers, kitties and my wacky life!!!

Hi Blottie! I'll listen to the music at work in the morning... maybe it will help.

If you find me while you are looking for you, could you let me know? Thanks... just bob

Nice to hear from you. Wondered where you had gone but i guess you had gone to catch up on your chores and have some me time. I haven't listened to the music yet but will do later.

Hi sweetie...lots of love coming atcha from Texas...

and by the way, it's a short long story, but Art Blakey once cornered me in the back hall of a jazz club in NYC and gave me one helluva soul kiss. He was very very old at the time, and I was very very young. It was quite a night.

Bob,

If I find you I will report for duty Sir!

Hope you enjoy the music. I don't really know your taste in music, so it's 50/50! Just be prepared because it isn't elevator music.

Thanks for always stopping by. My fan base is rapidly leaving like a sinking ship. I'm heart broken, but looking forward!!!

XO Blotte!

Dearest Jo,

You're always a champ. I hope you do listen. It's beautiful music. I'm more inclined to listen to the third. I love soft piano music, even if it is about death!

Thanks so much sweetie for always stopping by. It matters more than you know. True friends matter. I'm listening to Handel at the moment. Concerti grossi op 6 to be exact. Helen probably knows it. It's one of my favorites and brings such peace and joy to this house. Animals respond to music and so I play LOTS AND LOTS OF CLASSICAL AS WELL AS PIANO MUSIC!!! Obviously, as much for them as me! If you aren't familar with this concerti please make an effort. It's so beautiful. I'm confident you'll love it.

Hope all is well darling.

XO

Leah,

You're killin' me!!! You see, that's why we were meant to be friends. Stupid facts! When I move home...oh the fun we will have over BBQ and too much wine!

Sounds like a bit of fun went on in that hallway. When you listen to the music I know you'll remember. Have fun dear. I'm not here for much else but to bring joy to my fans!!! What a small world. Don't you think? Odd. I hope you were of legal age. Otherwise I'll have to report this............
