Roses Make Me Happy!

I want to look at something pretty and write about something that makes me happy. Remember Gig's birthday bouquet? Well this is where it ended up. Our foyer. And boy did we enjoy it. It lasted a solid week, and some of the roses could have gone longer.
~
I was just noticing how everything in this photo is off a bit. The painting isn't hanging straight, the table is pushed to the right of it's normal spot, the cords which are usually hidden are in view and the beautiful crystal that hangs from the lamp's on/off knob is missing. I wonder where he hid it? Could only be one kitty. Yup, Ohno (you know him and crystal!). This is his favorite table, so I know he is responsible for all the above. And I didn't even notice anything needed fixing or that something was missing until writing this . (I just went out and straighten things up! I'll find the crystal eventually.)
Another view at night. This bouquet was just one of the most beautiful I've ever created and believe it or not, it was a happy accident. I was in a hurry, couldn't find the pail for water, or the basket I use, so just grabbed a vase with water and starting picking my way through the garden. The roses all around the bottom just sort of fell into place and once I had them I put a bit of thought into what I wanted to add and where, but really, it arranged it's self. I intended to return to the house, recut the stems and rearrange it in another vase, but it was so gorgeous I couldn't. I didn't expect it to last more than a few day, but a whole week! I'll use that method again.
One last view of the other side. Oh, and the scent was intoxicating.
~
And of course a post wouldn't be a post without thanking all of you for your love and kind words. I apologize for not responding to all the comments or visiting other blogs too much, but I've been a bit overwhelmed with this string of bad luck. I will keep you informed about my health, etc..
~
Also, some updates:
- Ohno saw the Vet about the lump on his hip. Believe it or not it was the injection site when he was neutered months ago. The swelling's finally beginning to go away.
- Fenway/Buddy is doing beautifully. He had his second vet's visit for mange. He's still on his meds and doing remarkably well. He's healing, using his bum leg quite a bit now, loves his home, his family, his food, his walks, his yard, his neighborhood, everything. He is one happy dog. I'll get new photos when I have time.
~
Love to all,
Suz XO

I was going to ask if Ohno is your husband but then I saw Ohno's photo on the right side of your blog.

That was a bit of a relief, I have to tell you, as neutering your husband seems a bit extreme.

I'm new here. It will take me some time to get to know who's who.

Thank you dear Tiffany. Sometimes the best things in life are free! Well, when you consider the cost of a rose bush, compost, organic fertilzer, water, etc., it isn't free, but it almost feels as if it is! I'm so happy you stopped by. Please stay in touch. It' nice to have you here and my friends are terrific! They'll notice you stopped by and say hello! They're the best, bar none.

MJ,

Too funny. I'll give you a suggestion. Start at the beginning and read to the end. It could take a few days/weeks, but you'll get to know all the characters. And just know that when I'm talking about someone, it's usually the cats or dog! I never run out of things to write about Ohno because he's absolutely insanely funny, as most of my readers know! (He got the name Ohno because every time he'd come into a room some one would say OH NO!!! That's how bad he is!!! The funniest place to take him is the Vet's office because the front office and waiting room become a laughing pit when his name is called.) I do believe he's the funniest cat on the planet. No, really!!! I don't have time to write about half the crap he does. I'm laughing just writing this.

Always good to see you and your bottle here, and at the Wild Onion (You can write on the Wild Onion if you wish. Simply ask Cecile to become a member and you'll be on in a nano second. Yup, she's the gate keeper!). Isn't it funny how IV's challenge really worked?! He's surprised you and I connected, but I'm so glad we did. You're a hoot honey! I'm so happy we met, although I've only been able to uncover my eyes a fraction of the time! God we're different! Too funny.

Here there...

Thanks for the beautiful compliment and thanks too for stopping by. Hope you visit again. You'll laugh and so will my regular readers because they know the truth, honey, there was no "styling" involved because I don't have time! The lamp was there, the candle, the table, the painting and an empty space, so I just slapped the vase of roses down in the middle and then took photos a few days later. Trust me. No time to think much in this house because it's a crazy, wacky place with so many animals, a hubby and way the hell too much to do. Can you imagine what this house and my photos would look like if I had time to "style!" Wow!!!

Talk to you soon, and thanks again.

"Start at the beginning and read to the end."

Are you completely starkraving bonkers?

Here's the deal...

Write a post for me outlining all the characters and how you got from there to here.

Thanking you in advance,

MJ

Wasn't that easy?

That is a beautiful arrangement Suzanne.

Now off to another subject I think Rob or someone else who has all the pertinant information needs to nominate you for the cat hero of the year award.

Maybe since Rob knows you best he could write the nomination for you.

I saw this this weekend and thought immediatly of you

Hey Suze,
Have to admit, that arrangement looks perfect - isn't it nice when things just fall into place? You obviously have a natural talent for these things.
Thanks for the updates on various things. Sounds like Fenway is getting used to his new life, and he deserves it!
Glad you seem to be perky and not too downbeat!
Take care,

I'm glad you decided to lift yourself up with things that make you happy. You are a strong woman, remember that.

Did you know you can catch Sporothrix from rose thorns? Sporothrix is a mold. It starts out as an ugly rash or ulcer and if left untreated can pretty much eat away the flesh to the bone. Ah I love the smell of sporothrix on the roses. LOL

I just had to do that. I couldn't resist. Yes, the roses are georgous, the lamp is interesting, the painting is wonderful, and Ohno, is a feline.

Oh and MJ, T-Bone is a dog. So when she mentions T-Bone, don't go slobbering at the mouth.

The Mistress said...

Did someone mention T-Bone?

*drools all over Suzanne's tablecloth...the one it took her 3 days of scrubbing to get out the red wine stain and now this happens*

Hunter,

Every time I write you're blogging name, you know I think of hunting. You're killin' me!

Thank you for the nice compliment. Both flower arrangement and nominiation for cat hero of the year! Wow. That's a doozie! I couldn't type the link fast enough, unfortunately it didn't work, so I went to the Animal Planet to look for the nominating rules. Unfortunately can't find the contest. Are you sure it's a current contest? Well, if it doesn't work out and I don't win, just know I appreciate the thought and will hold my own private ceremony here at the house with kitties who adore me. We'll make party hats for everyone and eat cupcakes. Well...T-Bone and I will (he can't eat the chocolate ones of course, so I'll have to eat all of those!).

Cielo,

Something happened today at the doctor's office that has made me think of you non-stop. And here you are, up with me to wish me a starry night as I contemplate life. I failed you miserable as Garden of the Month for June. Miserably. I've been thinking of ways to fix it. I think the best way is a link to my blog and I will post all the photos I had for you with text. I will never write as beautifully and as magically as you, but I'll do my best!

I love you dear friend and thank you for your constant support and love. You make blogging worth it. Your friendship matters.

Have a starry, starry night and we'll chat soon.

With much love,
Suzanne XO

Rob,

You won't believe this but my hubby's name is Rob so I feel as if I'm writing to him. That's too funny. And yes, I know you only take what you eat and I assume you don't do anything as horrible as "trap," and I also assume you're a terrific shot. My one and only concern is that an animal never suffer. Trust me, I calculated all those factors into this friendship!!! IV can't believe we've become friends and Random Chick can't believe MJ and I have become friends. See what happens when you think outside the box! ;) Good things. That's why I try despesperately not to shield my eyes too much. I'm hovering at a reasonable 90% (90% of my time is spent not looking!). Yes, I know you're laughing! I go to MJ's blog and swear to God I barely get the jist of anything because I can't look and can't read, so it's a miracle we're friends. Our friendship is based on roses, I think, and the fact she cracks me up, oh, and the fact she's desperate for new friends.

Thanks for all your effort. I will click on the link as soon as I publish this comment. You're a terrific guy and I appreciate your friendship. If I win and become famous, you, your wife and baby will have to pick a bouquet. I love wild flowers, so just go into the fields around your house, or stop by the roadside and come up with something special, then put it in your foyer or on the table and appreciate it (bugs and all!). That will be your gift to me!

XO Suze

P.S. Testing begins Monday. Lots and lots of testing for everything, just to eliminate what might be causing my symptoms. My CAT Scan's June 4th. My doctor is amazing and I trust her completely. She believes the major component is stress. Which as you know, can cause my symptoms. I'm going to blog about it. I was afraid to at first because I initially felt like a failure yesterday, but writing to you makes me feel less so. And learning it might be just stress and nothing more serious just gave me a freedom yesterday I've never felt. Everyone has problems. I think it's the letting go that finally sets one free. Thank you for helping me in the process. XO And yes, you did help because you asked and showed concern. That simple act. Thank you.

The Mistress said...

No, I'm not desperate for friends as I can barely keep up with the ones I have.

I do, however, like to step outside of my routine from time and meet new people. I also find it interesting to converse with people whose thoughts and lives are different than mine so that we can expand each others minds...of course we could just drop a hit of acid instead if you prefer.

Don't visit me on Friday.

Today isn't too bad though.

Mr. Shife said...

Hope things are getting better and your string of bad luck has turned around. If you want I can have a talk with karma and tell her to back off. My people know people.

Suzanne said...

I knew "desperate for friends" would get you here in a flash. Yup. It did!!! Was I serious? NOPE!!! Too funny. Now see, Random Chick would love that. See R.C., I'm workin' it! I've learned from the best. (I'm doin' the "workin' it dance," and lovin' it baby!) Life is some times so simple. Who knew?

Oh, and MJ, I would never stop by on Friday and barely stop by the rest of the week and when I do I hardly peek through my fingers. Trust me! I would not lie to you. But, you know I adore you. See, opposites do attract. Keep your acid to yourself.

XO

Suzanne said...

Mr Shife,

I would like you to talk to Karma and alert her I've had enough. I'm exhausted. If you do that for me, I know I will wake up tomorrow a new woman. Of course I'm laughing. NO, I don't believe it!!! If only. Oh, honey, if only.

XO

P.S. That book will arrive at some point!
