We've been without the computers for the past day because something happened to our modem. It started working about an hour ago, so I'm typing really fast, just in case it goes out again. The cable guy is coming tomorrow (Sunday), during the Super Bowl to replace it. Rob's freaking out because it's during the Super Bowl and his Patriots are playing. He'll probably survive.
Our dear friend Perry who lives in N.J. is the biggest Giant's fan. He called a few days ago to tell us he was on his way to the Super Bowl with Michael. On the spur of the moment he purchased two ticket at a cost of almost $5,000. He said he did it because this moment in sports history will most likely never happen again and that Michael is 16 and will be off to college in a few years and they may never an opportunity like this again. He wants Michael to have a beautiful memory. $5,000 is a lot of money, and although he's a lawyer, they aren't rich, he's just one hell of a dad and loves his kids. I love parents who love their kids. Even if they can't afford a dime. Love is good enough.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your generous and kind comments about Ireland, and also for your constant support. You are just the most precious group of friends I've ever known. Every single comment mattered and help. I haven't given up hope and I'm not moving from #2! I've decided I'm not in the 5 stages of grief, I'm merely in a transitional state! After coming home from the park today I drove around the neighborhood looking for him, and ended up in tears, but they weren't tears of despair, they were tears of absolute determination. I will find him.
Wishing you all well.
Much love,
Suzanne

5,000 holy s*! WOW! I love football but not for 5,000 dollars! I good do a really new vaca for that! WOW! Talk to you soon!
Hugs,
Robyn
I can see Rob and I will have to be rooting against each other today. I'm not a huge Giants fan, but I DISPISE the Patriots. THey ARE NOT the new "America's Team" that honor will forever and always be bestowed upon the lovely Dallas Cowboys. But my favorite team is Green Bay. Brett is the best! So this last statement is for ROB, GO GIANTS!!!!! Break Tom Brady's leg!!! Because that's the only way they(the Giants) are going to win.
Cecile,
They may not be America's Team, but there's a pretty good chance they'll be undefeated champs tonight.
Rob
~~~
Cecile,
You made me laugh so hard! Rob said "I said what I said and that's all I'm saying because I'm not going to jinx this thing." Then he laughed which made me laugh harder. He's playing it very cool, but I know inside he's a bundle of nerves.
Brett's a good guy and I really have nothing to say about Green Bay except they aren't the Patriots.
The Cowboys? Lovely? Come on, snap out of it honey!
See you after the game. Good luck with those Giants!
XO Suzanne :)
Yes Robyn, can you believe that much money to go to the Super Bowl? I can think of a millions ways to spend $5,000 and it ain't on football honey! Perry and Michael are having a blast though and that was really important to Perry. He said "I didn't give it much thought, it was a spur of the moment thing (he purchased them on either Tuesday or Wednesday). He said he'd try to call during the game, and we hope he does.
Love you my dear, will get over to your blog as soon as possible.
XO Suzanne :)
G'day Suzanne,
Normally I would be at work; but because I am still on hols I will be watching the Gridiron NFL Super Bowl for free on SBS today, Monday.
The television coverage starts at 10am AEDT. GO GIANTS!!!
love the pic of the anemone seed pod :)
WOW~ You really have to LOVE football to pay $5000 for tickets! YIKES! And you don't even get to see the commercials in person!!
Hugs,
Penny
p.s. hope your computer issues all get taken care of!
Cecile and Mark,
Fortunately I fell asleep just before the game bagan and woke just as it ended (1 minute left). Poor Rob. He still hasn't spoken. That poor boy is in pain. I'm glad I slept through it!
The Giant's defense was very tough. Looks like the $5,000 Perry spent on tickets was worth every penny!!! He and Michael must be two of the happiest people on the planet because believe me, they did not expect to win. Good for them.
Like I always tell Rob, there's always next year. I won't give you his response.
XO to you both,
Suzanne
Hi Kylie,
I was wondering if anyone would notice how beautiful, and you did! 10 points for you! I took that one morning in the wind and couldn't believe how gorgeous it was. The little seeds are perfectly place in a poof of what looks like cotton. I thought it was so elegant.
The good thing about the Anenome is it blooms in the shade (loves the north side of a house or being planted under the shade of a tree, AND bloom in the fall! How lucky is that?! AND, seeds itself. AND it's a perennial! Wow, you buy one plant and get a gazillion! Worth the $5. It's about 5 feet high and blooms in white and pink. Perfect plant. Absolutely perfect.
Love you my dear!
Suzanne
Hey Penny,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, you really do have to love football! But more than that, I think Perry really loves his son. They're Italian and very close. Michael's leaving for college soon and as parents, I think Perry and Lynn are already anticipating what life will be like without the kids every day. I don't think they're ready! They're amazing parents, and like so many good parents, they struggle with the next phase of parenthood because it seems as if the kids grew up too fast (they have a son and a daughter).
I agree, $5,000 is way to much to spend on football, but the Giant's won! Who knew!!!??? What's interesting is $5,000 was just for the tickets. There's the hotel, food, plane tickets, car rental. Good Lord! I would never.
Talk to you soon ~
Love ya,
Suzanne
My condolense goes out to Rob. I guess that phone call I put in to the Giant's defens paid off. LOL Just kidding. I bet Rob could hear a resounding YOOO HOOO when they scored that winning touchdown. Tell him it came from ARKANSAS! My husband and I are celebrating big time. But I shant rub it in. Because, afterall, both Dallas and Green Bay did not even make it to the big game, so it wasn't a total victory. But, there is always next year! Don't be a hater, Rob.
No you a**, he didn't hear the final touchdown. He turned off the TV in an effort not too. Arkansas...it that actually a state?
With friends like you, who needs...?
See you tomorrow honey!
XO Suzanne (and yes, I still love you)
And Cecile, thank for rubbing it in. You're a gem!
Also THANKS! Typo!
ah, yeah thinking about it i know anenomes ...they have a single petal and lots of pretty colours?
Hi Sweetie ~ They are perfect!!! Looking at your blog and the photo. Is that you in the bikini?! Ya look terrific!
XO Suzanne
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Can you believe it?! I just can't! I am devasted that the Pats,lost! I really was rooting for them to clinch it! Rob must be suffering so! I had to order a stiff one, I just couldn't believe my eyes!
My team is Vikings but I have to give it to the 'Dream Team...Patriots!' 18 games....aaaghhhh but the one that really mattered! Right there in the gut...right there!
Love ya too sweetie! Any luck with Ireland yet? No worries it will happen!
Hugs,
Robyn
A true fan owes it to themselves to follow the team through thick and thin. I'm happy for your Giants fan, they really fought hard to win the game. I'm especially happy for Eli Manning and his family. When I was young, I watched his father play on those horrible Saints teams. Then his brother did so well with Colts, even winning last year's Super Bowl. The media and some bad breaks worked against Eli, but now he's overcome. More power to him. Enjoy it while it lasts to be sure. I saw my first Denver Broncos game in '69 and there's been plenty of highs and lows since then.
That anemone looks great. It reminds me of the cotton fields here.
hi again, you cant get rid of me today :)
my friend amanda has just started a blog and i recommended she read yours, just thought you might also drop by and say hi to her.she's on my link list "inspiring and glorious" or something like that
thanks darl
Your Giant's fan-friend and his son got his money's wortth!
Go Giants!!
Well, I would hope you still love me, I would hate to think that our differing opinions in football would end such a beautiful relationship. And Rob, please no hard feelings. Your Pats did fabulous all year long. So you should still be proud. Afterall, they did make history. So let's put the superbowl behind us now and focus on next year. Ok, now I have to get my butt back to work. I swear I have a severe case of "Short Timer Syndrom" around here. Enjoy your day!.
Hello again. The one who commented was me indeed. But the blog you commented to is not my blog. It's my photoclubs blog. But no harm done. :)
Hi Robyn,
Poor, poor Patriot fans. What a terrible loss. Rob still isn't talking much. I didn't even watch the game, but woke up SO grumpy today. I don't think it has anything to do with football, just rolled off the wrong side of the rock this morning. I don't feel like this very often and when I do I try to stay away from myself! I don't vent to the kitties or dog because I love them too much, but I did have a rather heated discussion with the kitchen faucet this morning. It's band new. We just installed in about 4 months ago and it looks like it's 90 years old. We paid a lot of money for it too. Within the first week it looked like crap. It's almost as if they forgot to seal it or something. We're calling the company and asking for a replacement. Which of course just annoys me more because replacing a faucet isn't fun.
When you argue with the kitchen faucet first thing in the morning you know the rest of the day is probably going to be a challenge. I think I may be getting a sinus infection, so that's probably what's wrong...my nose feels too heavy.
Love you!
Suzanne
Kylie,
There's a photo of a white anemone on my blog. Look to the right and page down a bit and there she is. In fact, the photo of the seed pods came from those white anemones. They're located just off our back patio. Love um! They grow way to tall to be planted next to the patio, but, so what. They're gorgeous.
I checked out Amanda's blog. She's doing a great job. I left her a comment and also invited her over to meet all our wonderful friends! I remember when I first started...God it was frustrating. It's nice to see she lost her profile too. It's not just me honey!
Love you sweetie,
Suze
This is just a comment to myself. Bindi's not here. I miss her.
:(
Robyn,
Forgot to mention. No luck with Ireland yet. All the kitties raced to the front windows when I arrived home from the park today. So I did the same. I thought it might be Ireland. I didn't see him, so raced outside. Nothing. I'm hanging more flyers. Cross your fingers honey.
Vikings? Really? Why?
XO :)
My dear friend, I was doing some catching up reading your blog after my one week absence from blogland, and I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your Ireland. I most certainly KNOW that one day you will see him there, on your front window with all the other kitties just like that, and you will be thrilled, and tears of happiness and gratitude will fill your eyes. Just remember what I'm saying.
I so enjoyed seeing all your roses and beautiful garden pictures, I would not love living in CA though, and one of the reasons being the traffic issue you mentioned, but oh what beautiful and awesome place it is. And perfect weather.... It’s a delight to visit your rose cottage.
((hugs))
Cielo
Skeeter,
I just called Rob in to read your comment. He chuckled. That's a good thing because he's an unhappy fella' today. The Patriot's fought hard too, unfortunately someone had to win. I can't believe how many Giant's fans are here. Probably the same way I won't believe how many Republican's are here once I start my political commentary! It's not going to be pretty cuz I'm a Democrat.
We lived in Denver for two years while Rob attended the University of Denver to play ice hockey (also to go to school of course!). The Denver Bronco's games were always sold out (very, very, very devoted fans). He decided to go to Med. School or Law School, so transferred to UC Berkeley to decide. And, believe it or not, we were at the game between CAL and Stanford (about 6 rows up, right on the end zone!) when the "big play" happened at the BIG GAME right in front of our eyes. History was made that day my dear friend. John Elway was quarter back for Stanford and it was his final game. He hates CAL, not because it's the rival school, but because he said "CAL ruined his college career." Good! That play was worth it! However, we've always liked him and were glad to see him go to the Denver Bronco's. It's a very small world, isn't it?
Thanks for always stopping by. I hope to get over to your blog soon. I'm trying sweetie. I'm always playing catch-up it seems now-a-days. Talk to you soon. Stay warm.
Love,
Suzanne
Mary,
You bet they did. Wow, what a brilliant memory for a dad and son. I think that was probably worth $5,000, plus air fare, hotel, rental car, food, etc.!!! What do you think the grand total was? Something like $10,000? Good Lord. That's pathetic. It's probably because of Perry's and Michael's devotion the Giants won.
One thing I love about sports fans is the respect they have for one another when one team wins and a friend's team loses. Perry hasn't called Rob yet or visa vera. Perry will give Rob a few days to recover, then they'll talk. That's the way it always happens.
Thanks for always stopping by ~ love to see you.
Much love,
Suzanne
Kart,
You're killin' me! I can't read a single thing on your blogs, so just have to sort of guess! However, I realized something was wrong when I went back to check on you and realized every name was different. You think I might have noticed that initially!
So, after reading this comment I went to your blog again and selected the last blog only to see "Private...and you're not invited." I assume that's YOUR blog. Yahoo really has to rephrase those two sentences. They're very insulting and disrespectful. Okay, so I'm not invited. Stop by whenever you like and I'll just write to you here! Okay? By the way, your English is beautiful.
Much love,
Suzanne
My dear, beautiful friend Cielo,
Welcome home. It's so nice to have you back. I'll pop on over when I'm through writing to see what you've written for all of us. I wrote something for you, just after you left on vacation. It's on the post Insomnia. I think that was the title. What an amazing collection of photos and text on that post. You transport me and I absolutely loved it.
I know you know Ireland and I know you know he'll come back to me. You are such a dear, sensitive soul. I trust your words. All of my friends here have been so supportive and kind and I know Ireland and I are surrounded by love. It may take a while, but we'll find one another again. We share a bond that is so beautiful and I can't imagine life without him, so know he can't imagine life without me. He's one of the greatest cats I've ever known, so I'm confident this can't be the end. He's just confused right now, but eventually he'll find his bearings and everything will fall into place. I have to believe that you know, otherwise my heart will just break. I will never forget "what you're saying" because I know you and understand you see more than most of us.
You'd be perfect in California. The traffic wouldn't get you down because you'd just will it away! But I believe you'd be perfect anywhere. The glow that must come from your house!!! How do your neighbors sleep? :)
I love you my dear friend. Thank you for always stopping by. I'm glad you enjoy the photos and my blog as much as I do yours.
Honey, if you have time, go to some of my old posts and look at the comments. You'll discover a poet named "Floots," or go to my links and click on I-Land-I-Site. You won't be disappointed. One minor problem...he writes, then erases. You have only a few days to read and copy his poetry!!! He's a lovely soul and I know you will adore him. (And to anyone else reading this...go, hurry! Visit often and copy like a mad-person! Cuz once it's gone, it's gone.)
Love you my dear,
Suzanne XO :)
Hey Rob,
You can barrack for an Aussie Rules team during the Australian Winter:) pre season kicks off in March and the Grand Final will be in September.
Visit afl.com.au and pick a team - but NOT COLLINGWOOD!!
Mark.
An amazing and lovely photograph!
Mark,
Rob wants to know what the definition of "barrack" is. He's going to check out the link you left and pick a team (oh course not Collingwood!). He'll let you know once he's had time to do a bit of research. Thanks for always thinking of us. You're a gem.
Much love,
Suzanne
Shutterspy,
Thank you my dear. I saw it one morning when I went out to feed the squirrels and birds and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I wasn't certain I could capture it in a photo because it was very windy and I'm not a great photographer. But somehow it worked out and like you, I love the photo. Thanks for noticing it.
By the way, you have some amazing photos on your blog. I love stopping by to check things out. Keep up the good work! Have you checked out John Reynolds' photography? I have a link to him. Also, you might want to check out Floots at I-Land-I-Site. He's a photographer and a poet and is really quite remarkable. One catch, he erases his work after only a few days, so you really have to be on your toes and as I say to everyone...copy as fast as you can! He wrote a poem intitled "someday my prints." It's about being in the dark room. It's brilliant for those of us who know the experience intimately because he captured the essence perfectly. I printed my copy out, but John has it on his computer. Don't be shy, he's a great guy, ask him to share it with you. You'll LOVE it! He has an email address on his blog.
We'll talk soon. Until then take good care of yourself.
Love,
Suzanne
@Suzanne: Thanks, I might take a look at his site.
I might ask him if I can read his darkroom poem, but I most likely won't be able to relate to it much because I have never been in a darkroom (I'd like to though).
Wow, you take all those gorgeous photos and have never been in a dark room. Holy Shit! Pardon my French. I thought every great photographer had the experience. Okay...I guess you don't need to read it! Yes, of course, I'm laughing!
Love you!
@Suzanne: 'Fraid not! I'm a self-taught user of relatively cheap, compact digital cameras. I use: Fuji FinepPix A205 (bought new), Minolta Dimage X20 (bought off eBay, faulty), Fuji FinePix Z1 (bought off eBay).
Thanks for the compliment! ;-)
