I Met A Fabulous Guy...

I have a guy, but I've met another guy, no not the gorgeous one above, but another. I don't know his name, but do know where he lives. Sort of. He's a gem. He makes me laugh, cry and think. He's thoughtful, kind, tormented, smart, funny, sensitive, talented, etc.. All the things I look for in a man, except the tormented. But I'll keep him just the same because I've grown to love him in less than 48 hours. I can't imagine how I've spent my life without him. He's a keeper. I found him on Blooger's Blogs of Note...and you can find him too: http://onepicaday.blogspot.com/. He's brilliant. As an artist I'm taken with how he can grab my soul with just one photo and one post a day. I adore how art and words can have such a profound impact.

I've spent the past two days reading as much of his blog as possible (one reason my Christmas cards are late) and enjoyed every single entry. Sometimes I want to kick him in the a$$ and other times I want to hug him to death. It's been a frustrating and beautiful journey. To complicate the issue we've communicated. I adore him more. I have no idea who he is, but with my research skills, could find out easily. I've decided I don't want to. I want to imagine his voice and his music. He came into my life for a reason and has helped me reflect. I've learned a great deal and want to learn more. Unfortunately, once I finish reading his entire blog I will have to struggle with the agonizing reality I will only get one little post per day from him! Ugh. I wish it was 20 pics a day and a whole lotta writing! But that would defeat the purpose. So I'll keep him just the way he is because I think he's pretty remarkable. And as far as his blog goes, I'll do what I always do with any good book that I don't want to end...read very, very slowly.

I've been up all night and it's now time to feed the kitties, so this is going to be quick! He's amazing isn't he? It's funny how one single person can impact so many. I think it's his ability to convey his thoughts so brilliantly and honestly. He's like a breath of fresh air. I also like how he cleans out all my cobwebs!

Good luck with your exams and put his blog away temporarily so you can focus and get good grades! And yes, I think he is an angel too. Some people just are. I think his blog should be a book. I'm going to suggest the idea.

I know you're at the other end of the world and I don't know the time, but I'm just starting my day, so imagine you're just ending yours. Thank you for taking the time to write and please write when ever you like ~ it was wonderful to hear from you.

ludmila m. ~ Thanks for the nice compliment, we will certainly keep in touch. I wrote a comment on your blog in English! I'm sure you'll notice! Obviously I can't read your blog, but it looks terrific! Come back often and leave me a comment when you have time.

1pic ~ I said you're a "bit hit." Are you? I have no idea what that means, but I can't stop laughing. It sounds as if you were in an accident and only got a little hurt. Obviously I meant to say you're a "BIG HIT!!!"

Savannah ~ Thank you so much for your comment. I've started reading your blog. Oh sweetie, you're killin' me! You're a wonderful person and I hope you always keep that in mind. I'll comment on your blog when I've completed it. Until then, give yourself a big, warm hug from me. You're a treasure.

XO Suzanne
p.s. It's a whole lot warmer here!

1pic ~ I hope you page down this far. I've been trying to leave a comment on your post all day (18th), but have been unable. My first one disappeared and it was frustrating because it was rather long and thoughtful! I tried again hours later and wrote much less. Again, it didn't post. I tried a third time and nothing. Have you already blocked me!???!!! If I can't leave a message tomorrow, I'll simply leave it here. Sleep tight and all the best. You did the right thing today.

block? why should i do that? I have tha habit of copying what i wrote before sending it. I always do that. then if something goes wrong i just do it again after pasting the text into the comment window. that's a good procedure. or, write it inyour text application first and when you're done and happy copy it into the window.

Hello Suzanne,
Thank you very much for your comment and compliments. I left another comment on Onepic's blog - I didn't intend to be harsh in my original post and it may have come across like that. From what little I'd read of his posts, the tone and some of the content of the 17th did strike me as being something he might regret later. I'm glad he agreed. I will read the story more fully. Now I must have a look at the Rose Cottage blog!

Regards,
John

ps - My photo site is a mess and in construction - we're hoping to sort it over the Christmas holiday.

Dear Suzanne,
Very nice that we're going to keep in touch so close..By the way, yes,my language is portuguese, but i think you can use the translating program that the blog has.My english is not so good,so please forgive any mistakes, right?I live in the Northeast of Brazil. And i agree when you said that one pic brought us together. It would be very nice if a had any e-mail adress, could you give any?One pic has left lots of coments at your blog, realize that he's a huge fan of yours.Shame that i can understand what you write and you can't understand mine. But try to use the translating program,i bet it would solve this problem.
All the best for you!
p.s: By the way,did you see?My birthday is coming! And guess what,it´s just at Christimas eve!:***

Oh Suzanne, thank you for the [virtual] hug! =] I needed it!!

From what I've seen...I LOVE your art work. Amazing. Roses are so very beatuiful. And I can't wait to see more.

I feel you on the not wanting to decorate for Christmas. I have a "Shadow" of my own. His name is Spike. Black just like her. But he's old enough to know better. haha, At least I thought. I just get the pleasure of redecorating my tree three or four times a day. haha

Thank you again for your kind words and encouragement. Sometimes I can get so down, wondering why these mountains are always placed in front of me. But I know it's because I can handle it. It hurts knowing that my parents will never change, but I'm starting to accept it.

I'm so glad your blogger is working now, and I look forward to more posts and more pictures!

Have a wonderful day!

I refuse to erase for one full hour. Hopefully everyone will know by then! And yes, it's perfect. You're parents were right. I will only address you as "Sir" from here on out!

XO Suzanne
p.s. Walter would never have worked!

Suzanne said...

My husband said "Why would you disrespect his comment to be erased?" I had to think about that for about 1 second and then erased. The information was for me, so Sir "O," your secret is safe. Thank you for intrusting me with such valuable info! Your name is perfect. Really.

I missed it! From the pictures you've posted of yourself, 1pic, you look identical to my tour guide in London, and his name was Mike. So in my mind, I refer to you as Mike! haha I'm also not smart enough to figure out the band/cd name. I got the long/lat part, but then I went stupid. ;) I like keeping it a mystery, though.

"Mystery Mike". teehee

Hi John,

Thanks for your comment. It's so nice to hear from you. I hope you enjoyed my blogs, but I'm sure they're not your cup-o-tea! However, we do share a black back ground! So, see, we have something in common.

When I was at UCLA I took photography classes and at the same time was taking honors independent study (painting) with the Chairman of the Dept., Henry Hopkins. He had been a professional photographer, was also the Director of the Armand Hammer Museum in L.A., and the former director of the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. He asked me one day, "Suzanne, are you going to become a photographer? I've seen your work. It's very good." I told him no. He also asked me one day, "Suzanne, have you ever considered coming to work for the Armand Hammer? I told him no. I'm laughing so hard right now because my reply to both was insane!!! It was as if I was being asked to jump on a silver platter, but said no. Life is funny.

My husband and I were looking at your blog a few days ago and really enjoyed your photos. We love the B&W photo of the saxaphone player in the NY subway. Absolutely beautiful. (I'm from NY and Rob played the sax, but that's not really relevant, the photos is just gorgeous.) I also love the photo of the two women in the church. Your work really is lovely.

1pic...well you certainly made an impression! He rewrote his post. I was conflicted about that initally because I was just about to ask if he'd ever been tempted to edit. I love the idea of writing something and never going back to change it. I edit all the time ~ have even erased entire posts because I woke up the next day and though "OH GOD!!!" So to find some one who writes honestly and doesn't edit felt good. And then he edited! I understand why and it was a good thing. I'm happy, however, that I was able to read the raw, unedited version because as unkind as it was, it made a great deal of sense (after reading almost a year of his posts). That comment will probably only make sense if you read his blog!

I just thought about how 1pic's blog could so easily be the subject of a class at any university. Critiquing both his art and his writing would be, not only fun, but challenging. We do it every day here on line.

Well, this is a lot longer than I'd planned, but a good brain exercise. Please keep in touch and I'll do the same. Have a wonderful holiday season.

XO Suzanne

and what would the name of the course be?

"advanced psychiatric analysis in western male bi-polar behavior" - 4 credits?

You are such a jack ass and that is why I love you! I'm actually in communication with both UCLA and The California College of Art as we speak. I have "ins" with both because my former professor (best prof in the whole wide world) at CCA is now a Dean and my Honor's study advisor, former Chair at UCLA are both in positions to help facilitate advancing your blog. And I really do think it needs to be advanced! I really do think your blog would be perfect as the subject of an art and/or literature class. Seriously. I've been involved with academia for almost two decades and know what student need. A class that focused on your blog would be difficult at UCLA. In terms of art and photography,it would be a challenge, in terms of text, it would be an enormous struggle. I like that. I see your blog as such a complex journey. And that is why I'm searching. I can't imagine keeping this all to myself.

You might not see what I see, but that's because I see way, way beyond. That's just me sweetie!

XO Suzanne from CA

When I came across this...I thought to myself "I'm not alone!" I ran across 1pic's blog in the middle of the night and could not stop reading...so I too have spent hours reading from the first entry. I really love your idea on making the blog into a college course...I can only imagine how many people his blog would impact. I mean I want to tell the whole wide world about his amazing blog. Thanks for posting your thoughts about him here :) at least now I don't feel alone :)

Ludmila ~ Thank you for your comments. You're too adorable! And no my dear, I won't be coming to Brazil any time soon because I'm refusing to fly after getting one of the worst sinus infections of my life a few years ago after a flight to NY. My family is upset by the news, but I've concluded if I can't drive somewhere, then I'm not going! Brazil would be a very, very long drive!

How do you translate this? I don't know how to do it on my end. I'll look into translating as you suggested when I can find the time. And yes, I'll give you my email, but I'm trying to figure out how without giving it to the whole world! I'll work on that.

I'm not so sure 1pic is a huge fan of mine, but we're all certainly huge fans of 1pic. I think it's terrific. I've really enjoyed his blog and now look forward, with great anticipation, to his daily post. It's amazing how many wonderful people I've met because of him. It's been a joy.

It's been nice talking to you, but I've gotta run, busy day ahead. Take care until next time.

XO Suzanne
P.S. Happy Birthday!

Suzanne said...

Emg ~ You certainly aren't alone! Have you read the comments on his blog? People adore him (men and women). And for good reason, it's an amazing collection of photography and text. It's one man's very honest personal journey through life. I think we all find it compelling because so often it's difficult to be honest and open. It's refreshing to discover someone who is!

I agree, a college course would be terrific. Can you imagine the discussions it would generate! My only fear is that all this attention might change 1pic or influence his writing and photo selection. I don't want him to change. I hope when he writes and photographs he pretends none of us exist.

Thanks for your kind comment. Please come back any time. Have a great day.

XO Suzanne

Suzanne, I've found you through our man, 1 Pic, and I believe you are a true soul sister. I love anyone who loves pink roses and kitties and calls them kitties. Now I will read all of your blogs too.

I'm also in Northern CA. and I love 1 pic too. You've described exactly how reading his blogs affects me. I want to make him see the light, and I want to hug him. Poor guy. He's the real deal, isn't he? I agree: I don't want to look up who he really is.

I hope to get to follow your adventures with the kitties. I have my first: Clarice, a pretty little Calico who I am absolutely besotted with, but I feed the feral kitties too.

Anyway, I love your blog!

Suzanne said...

Sandi ~ Please forgive me for taking so long to respond. I loved your comment. You made me feel all warm and cozy!

I wonder where you are in Northern CA? Hummmmmmmm. We'll have to exchange that info some how. I see you don't have a blog. Perhaps you should venture into the water? It's not too difficult and after any reservations you might have, it simply become pure pleasure.

Yes, I agree, 1pic is the real deal. Finding him has been a Christmas gift to me! He makes everyone think and chat. I like that. He's also been able to bring such a diverse group of people together. I like that even more. I now have dear friends I would never have met if not for him (you included of course). I'm grateful for the day I clicked on his blog and I'm truly grateful to blogger for chosing him as a blog of note.

I do call them all kitties, don't I? I don't know why. Perhaps because the sound is softer and more charming. I'm glad you have Clarice (how old is she?)and feed the ferals. Have you considered adopting any of your ferals or finding homes for them? My ferals are all dear friends and I've adopted 4 and still have 5 to have spay and neutered and then find homes for. I'm going through with the spay and neuters in the next two weeks and plan to visit the Farmer's Market to hopefully find a good farm for them. I would like to have them all adopted together and I'm looking for someone who will take good care of them, give them food every day and vet care when necessary. And of course...allow me to visit often because I love them so.

Thank you so much for stopping by. It's been wonderful to meet you and your comment was so kind. Please don't hesitate to stop by often and leave a comment as well. I just adore them! I'm looking forward to getting to know you over the years.

Till next time,
XO Suzanne :)
